Uganda faces real and growing threats from radicalization online and offline. Extremist recruiters exploit unemployment, grievance and ignorance. The VoP CVE program builds resilience at the community level, equipping young Ugandans to identify, resist and report extremist messaging before it takes root.
Key Activities
- Community CVE awareness workshops in partnership with local leaders, UPDF and Police Community Liaison
- Social media literacy training helping youth identify and counter disinformation, hate speech and extremist content
- Safe reporting mechanisms for youth who observe radicalization in their communities
- Peer-to-peer mentorship networks that provide alternative pathways for at-risk youth
- Coordination with relevant government security structures through legal and transparent channels
The most powerful counter to extremism is not fear it is belonging. When young people feel seen, heard and invested in their communities, they do not seek violence as an answer.
