Background
The Voices of Peace (VoP) Movement was born out of a growing recognition among Uganda's young people that peace is not guaranteed it must be earned, nurtured and actively defended. Founded in 2025, VoP emerged at a time when social media was amplifying divisive narratives, when ethnic and religious fault lines were being exploited and when youth disillusionment with civic processes was deepening.
A group of young Ugandans from different regions, faiths and professional backgrounds came together with one shared resolve: Uganda's youth are not the problem they are the solution. VoP was formally launched on 25 April 2026, marking the beginning of a structured, youth-led national movement dedicated to peace, national unity and civic responsibility.
Today, VoP is active across Kampala and expanding into Uganda's regions, mobilizing young people who believe that dialogue, empathy and patriotism are stronger than division.
